On successful completion of the course, students:

  • can use language more independently
  • can talk about individual language learning processes and understand general statements about education and university studies
  • can communicate more widely on and understand texts consisting of more high frequency language on topics of interest
  • can describe and briefly explain past events, future plans and opinion
  • understand main points of clear standard input on familiar topics (work, study, leisure, food).
  • can deal with most situations encountered in a German-speaking environment
  • can exchange information on, compare and lead a conversation on familiar topics, linking short elements into connected speech.
  • can describe a graph
  • can make suggestions, show dis/agreement
  • can write an inquiry and ask for information on familiar topics
  • understand the main points of many TV and radio programs on news and topics of interest when the delivery is slow and clear
  • can make a complaint

  • Languages and Europe
  • Life in German speaking countries
  • Relatives and Family
  • Mobility
  • Intercultural Issues
  • Freetime activities
  • The media
