On successful completion of the course, students:

  • have critically analyzed numerous text genre
  • can understand and identify the main ideas and purposes presented in spoken and written business text, including business communication, lectures and news
  • can interact and initiate interaction with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers possible
  • can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options, including writing an e-mail, giving a presentation and answering the phone
  • can structure and hold a presentation suitable for both a work and study context
  • can correct most of their own language mistakes

The course will cover the following topics/content:

  • The language of the Italian business communication.
  • Analysis of different genres, both written and spoken.
  • Discussion of business issues, including dealing effectively and creatively with interpersonal and commercial relations within a predominantly international framework.
  • In the restaurant with business partners: talking/writing about behaviours in business context
  • Travel plans: describing complex journeys; offering trips to a favourite destination
  • Talking about business plans, personal future plans, politics
