Students will be familiar with the terminology and fundamentals of inorganic and organic chemistry including stoichiometry and general chemical reaction principles required to understand in vitro chemical processes.

  • Homogeneous and heterogeneous material systems

  • Atomic and molecular science, especially with respect to stoichiometry and isotopes
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics and application of thermodynamic laws to analytical procedures

  • Acids and bases, pH value

  • Basics of organic chemistry (carbon chemistry and nomenclature)
