Students shall choose from two different elective courses to expand their individual knowledge.
This course focuses on deepening the students' knowledge of care and support of pregnant women with risk factors, chronic diseases, critical or threatening conditions and emergency measures to take. Women and their unborn babies or newborns shall be supported in different situations. Students shall apply mindful care with the salutogenetic model, professional support and care based on the latest scientific research , particularly in specialized centers and institutes. The students shall act and react in a professional manner and expand their knowledge about algorithms. They shall be able to set situation-specific measures in cooperative team work with other professionals.

Deepening of theoretical knowledge about emergency relevant anatomical and physiological changes in pregnancy, selected chronic medical conditions, measurements in emergency situations in mother and child care, early identification of critically ill women and newborns,, risk management (error reporting systems), guidelines and health promotion, prevention, counselling skills (advice, information sheets, interdisciplinary and interprofessional communication, communication in emergency situations, networks,...), conflict management, dealing with crises, loss, death and grief
