Research
Shaping the Social Sphere
The school of social work at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (FH Kärnten) was founded in the winter semester of 2002. This established area of the social sciences is dedicated to issues which affect social work as a profession and discipline, and contribute to its conceptual formation. Included in this is the goal, under the paradigm of the "shaping of the social sphere", of contributing to a broading of professional self-awareness and to expanding the remit of social work. In the field of practice-orientated research, research questions relevant to social work practice will be dealt with from a professional social work perspective; to clarify urgent current issues and to offer concrete proposals for action.
The course aims to consider research and development from a long-term perspective, and therefore contributes to the formulation of modern social work as a profession and discipline. These main research themes are put into practice through the acquisition of regional, national and European funds, as well as through assignments from social and community organisations.
Multidisciplinary perspectives
The wide range of professional backgrounds of staff, contributes to the consideration of problem areas and fields of work from different disciplinary perspectives. This multi-disciplinary approach takes into account the complexity of social problems.
