Master Social Work: Developing and Shaping

People on a meadowThe welfare system is facing new challenges: the demographic change with an ageing society, the seperation of pupils within the school system, the young generation’s individualised transition into working life and strong demands placed on the middle generation. These factors indicate trends, which together with tight public budgets demand a restructuring of social services.

In the master's program “Social Work – Developing and Shaping" the graduates acquire a deeper theoretical knowledge in the social field, and professional skills in shaping services.

The focus of the program is on the training of highly qualified experts in the social field.

  • The progam is modular, and deals with the issues of new development and the shaping of social provision in relation to corporate, social science, business and legal aspects.
  • The close link between theory and practice is made possible through research and project work.

In both the full-time and part-time courses; throughout the course students have to develop and implement a specific project. To accompany this project the students are taught in-depth knowledge and methods in project development and implementation. In addition courses are offered on empirical social research, project management and evaluation.

With this training in conceptual and management skills, the master's program is aimed at prospective students who have basic skills in social occupations and are looking to build on, and acquire new competencies in “developing and shaping.”

Graduates of the master's program are "architects" of the social landscape. They are highly qualified experts in the organising and shaping of new developments and services.
