- Living Red Ribbon
BORDERNETworks – the continuation and expansion of BORDERNET (2005-2007) – is a project of the EC Public Health Programme. It aims at improving HIV and STI prevention, diagnostic and treatment with an emphasis on cross-border regions in Europe (5 cross-border model regions, e.g. Mecklenburg Vorpommern, Germany – Zachodniopomorskie, Poland). Therefore, 13 partners from 8 EU Member States work together with 16 further partner organizations and experts from 5 ENP countries (Ukraine, Moldova, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina/Republika Srpska, and Russia). The University of Applied Sciences, School of Health and Care, acts as a collaborating partner within the work package 9 (WP9). WP 9 is dedicated to the development of an online youth HIV prevention evaluation tool. Further, transferable concepts for highly active prevention, guidelines for referral and management of HIV Co-infections as well as a curriculum for communication and counseling training for health professionals are developed. Expert exchange workshops and models for participatory HIV/STI prevention for ethnic minorities/migrant groups are realized. For further project information please visit http://www.bordernet.eu/.

Scientific collaboration in the context of the XVIII International Aids Conference
The International AIDS Conference (IAC), held every two years, is the largest regular conference on any health or development issue, gathering more than 20,000 participants from various countries and backgrounds. These prestigious conferences provide a unique forum for the interaction of science, community and leadership, and strengthen an evidence-based policy and programmatic response to the epidemic. The XVIII International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2010) will be held in Austria (Vienna), from 18 to 23 July 2010.
The Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, School of Health and Care, is one of the local evaluation partners of this prestigious conference. In collaboration with the AIDS 2010 evaluation coordinator, a literature review was conducted late 2009/early 2010 to map out studies conducted on HIV awareness of Austria’s general public and key populations over the period 2000-2010.

PRIMER-ICT
Promoting the improvement of elderly ICT skills and well being by intergenerational and multi-sectoral education PRIMER-ICT is an ongoing EU-project and is embedded in the Lifelong Learning Programme of the EU. Four European countries (Austria, Slovenia, Ireland, and United Kingdom) are working on the improvement of elderly ICT skills. The project aims at developing e-materials to train students from health and ICT related fields as well as multipliers such as nurses in elderly homes, relatives of the elderly, and volunteers. Further, they educate elderly by using blended learning (partly online, partly face-to-face). Therefore, elderly learn to access online information and a network of educators and multipliers can be developed integrating different European countries. For further information please visit the project homepage.

GEROM is an ongoing EU-project and part of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the EU. Six European countries (Slovenia, Austria, Bulgaria, UK, Ireland, and Finland) are working together on the development of an online gerontological master degree programme.
The frequently cited demographic changes as well as the increasing mobility within the European healthcare market underline the relevance of this project. GEROM is lead by the Slovenian partners, Austria (CUAS, School of Health and Care) leads the work package “evaluation and quality assurance”.

CAREN - Carinthia Registry of Nursing
The goal of this project is the establishment of province-wide nursing registry. This registry is based upon the population and provides statistics in terms of residential care demand, the capacity (free beds) and quality management (for interested institutions with very active participation). These statistics enable an improved, reality-based instruction in residential care documentation and evaluations for the respective occupational categories.
Network Family - Generations living in central Carinthia
The aim of this project is a regional survey of all supply and demand for families in the areas of employment, leisure time, health and qualifications in the region of central Carinthia. Additionally, a connection between the demographic data should be linked to a cartographical illustration (geographical information system).
Project "healthy + competent"
At schools for healthcare and residential nursing care of the Province of Carinthia, a 3 and ½ year project was started in the autumn of 2003. An entire semester of school pupils will be accompanied with health promotion measures throughout these 3 and ½ years.
