Research

The overall goal of the research within the master course Light Weight Engineering is the development and optimization of light weight structures in particular for automobiles, aviation and wind crafts.

This is achieved by following means

• Use of light weight materials such as light metals, high strength steels and fiber composites
• Use of new production technologies for complex components and structures
• Use of computer aided design technologies and Finite Element modeling
• Innovative measurement systems

Within national and international projects the crash-, the fatigue- and vibration behavior is investigated evaluated and optimized

The research results are discussed within the technical exercises and workshops together with the students and therefore supports the hands-on-like and simultaneously challenging education.
