With these keywords the central role of light weight engineering is emphasized as the technical promoter for any modern industrial sector. Light weight engineering is an integral part of the rapid developments within the automotive engineering, aerospace engineering, power engineering, architecture, medical engineering, and even the electronic engineering.

The reason for the increasing importance of light weight technologies can be seen in the global requirements concerning preservation of resources, energy-conscious technology, the reduction of green house gas emissions, downsizing of structural components and the increase of the efficiency of machinery and equipment.
