Geoinformation is everywhere: over 80% of all data have a spatial reference, whether by address, zip codes or locations. This is regardless of the industry. The spatial component of this data has enormous economic potential and a significant competitive advantage. Information technological methods which are able to process geo-information allow exploiting the maximum economic potential.

Modern environmental information technologies provide solutions for a better understanding of our environment. Geoinformation plays here a central role with its core issues such as digital acquisition, analysis, processing, delivery and presentation of geographical phenomena and spatial relationships.

The bases of the degree course “Geoinformation and Environmental Technologies” are technical and scientific elements like mathematics, statistics and computer science. Especially programming and database knowledge on geographic information systems are pushed. The already established tradition of teaching English as a subject and apply it in addition to the German language continues intensively in the bachelor degree program “Geo-information and Environmental Technologies”. Based on many years of experience, a strategy for education in the English language was developed. This follows the guidelines of the Common European Framework (CEF).
