Literature

As the course HDL requires intensive usage of CAD tools, all literature from the lecture CAD - digital part will be helpfull.

Additional readings for lectures and homework will be given in class and are available in the download section after login.

A collection of basic literature is given below:

Logic Design Literature

[L1] C. Roth, Fundamentals of Logic Design
There are 10 copies available in our library. The book provides a good introduction to logic design.

[L2] R. Katz, Contemporary Logic Design
Also here we have 10 copies available in our library, also very introductory to logic design.

[L3] J. Wakerly, Digital Design
Introductory, also one copy available in our library.

[L4] C.Roth, Digital Systems Design Using VHDL
There is one copy available in our library. This book covers more advanced topics in digital system design.

CAD - Computer Aided Design - Literature

[CAD1] A. Mäder, VHDL Kompakt
The book is available for download from the internet.

[CAD2] G.Lehmann, B.Wunder, M.Selz, Schaltungsdesign mit VHDL
The book is available for download from the internet.

[CAD3] P. Ashenden, The VHDL Cookbook, First Edition
The book is available for download from the internet.

[CAD4] Doulos Ltd., The VHDL Golden Reference Guide
Some copies of the book are available in the library

[CAD5] ModelSim User Manuals
Online ModelSim documentation is accessed via the help menu of the program.
Parts of the documentation are available for download as .pdf

[CAD6] VHDL Windows Help
A VHDL Windows help facility is available for download: VHDL.hlp

[CAD7] IEEE Libraries
In the download section you find an Inventory (IEEE_lib.html) of all VHDL IEEE functions plus information in which IEEE library they are made available.

WEB Links:

there are many HDL related sites on the web, many of them very specialized and often changing. One very good and quite stable web entry point for VHDL stuff and links is the The Hamburg VHDL Archive provided by TAMS, UNI Hamburg:

A VHDL online course from University Erlangen:
