  • Introduction to optical interface standards.
  • Introduction to electrical interface standards.

Chapter 2: Signal Integrity

  • Signal representation in time and frequency domain.
  • s-parameters
  • Transmission line
  • Eye-diagram, Bit-error-rate, jitter, ISI...
  • Signal integrity measurements
  • Channel modelling and simulation

Chapter 3: High-Speed Electrical Interfaces

  • Serial interface architecture
  • Transmitter architecture and building blocks.
  • Receiver architecture and building blocks
  • Receiver and transmitter equalization techniques
  • ISI reduction with decision feedback equalizers
  • Clock-and-data recovery (CDR)

Chapter 4: Optoelectronic Integrated Circuits (OEIC) - optional

  • Monolithic photodiode integration.
  • Transimpedance amplifier design
  • Applications for OEICs.

 

Labs and homework

Several problems will be presented during Analog-3 lecture which have to be solved as homework.
