Chapter 1: An Introduction in Analog Integrated Circuit Design
- Applications and challenges for analog circuit design.
- Interface between analog and digital IC design.
Chapter 2: Integrated Circuit Devices and Models
- Necessary MOS and BIP semiconductor physics.
- Electrical behavior of passive devices (resistors, capacitors).
- MOS and BIP transistor models.
Chapter 3: Analog Layout Considerations
- Learn about analog layout and design rules.
- Layout considerations like matching and cross-coupling.
Chapter 4: Basic Transistor Circuits
- Analog design methodology and necessary math.
- Hand calculations and estimations on electrical circuits in time and frequency domain.
- Basic transistor circuits like amplifiers, current mirrors, cascodes, differential stages.
Labs and homework
Three different labs will be introduced during the Analog-1 lecture. The lab work will be done mainly during CAD lecture or as home work.
- Lab1: Transistor Device Models
- Lab2: Analog Design and Layout of a basic building block
Several examples will be presented during Analog-1 lecture which have to be solved as home work.
